Public Safety is a top priority for our city.

The statistics shown, provided by the Abbeville Police Department, reflect a decline in crime, and progress in bringing violent criminals to Justice in 2021.

With the help of  Mayor Piazza and the Abbeville City Council, Chief Bill Spearman was able to increase camera surveillance throughout the city. 2021 also included increased efforts by the  Violent Crimes Task Force, led by Eddie Langlinais, and made up of multiple agencies including the  Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office, Abbeville PD and a number of federal agencies.

The creation of the new Vermilion Parish Crime Stoppers is another new tool available to local agencies to help solve crimes faster.

Looking ahead, there is still a lot of work to do, but if we continue to work together we can help make Abbeville a safer community.
