Great things are happening! We’re delighted to share that Abbeville has been chosen by the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) in the second-round of Strategic Planning Awards. The program aims to create more resilient and healthier communities throughout the United States by helping to grow local economies from the middle out and bottom up, so that no one has to leave home to find opportunity.
The City of Abbeville has been awarded $150,000 for strategic planning focused on developing effective strategies to address job creation, entrepreneurship, and equity.
Abbeville isn’t alone in this endeavor! Over $1.5 million in funding has been awarded to thirteen communities across Alabama, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Missouri. This initiative is all about empowering communities to address infrastructure needs, industry growth, workforce development, and small business support. It is a vital component of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, signed by President Biden, focused on Investing in America.
Federal Co-Chairman Dr. Corey Wiggins shared, “The Strategic Planning Program gives public entities across DRA’s footprint the ability to address long-standing issues and develop a roadmap for economic growth and revitalization.”
We are excited to be part of this movement to create stronger, more vibrant communities across the nation. This funding will better position us to maximize our economic development and basic public infrastructure opportunities. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for our community!
Stay tuned for more updates on how we’re using this funding to create positive change and growth
