The department is led by Chief Ernest Jude Mire. Chief Mire began his career with the Abbeville Fire Department on December 03, 1989. He served as a Firefighter for 12 years before being promoted to Fire Captain in 2001 and served in that rank for 12 years.

He was Assistant Fire Chief for 1 year before being appointed tore Chief in 2014.

The Abbeville Fire Department Main Station is located at 210 West Vermilion Street with Substations located on Veterans Memorial Drive, Joffree Street, and Maude Avenue.

The Abbeville Police Department is led by Chief of Police Mike Hardy.He served as chief from 1990 to ‘02. In addition, he continued to serve in various law enforcement roles, including as an officer with the Maurice Police Department. He volunteered as a reserve officer in Abbeville during the time his brother, Tony Hardy, served as Abbeville chief (2010-‘18).
