The City of Abbeville is proud to announce that our 2023 Walkability Action Plan has been recognized with the Excellence Award for Implementation by the Louisiana Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA). The honor was presented during this year’s State Planning Conference in Lafayette.
The award celebrates Abbeville’s progress toward creating safer, more accessible, and more pedestrian-friendly streets. Through strong collaboration and community input, the City continues to transform the vision of a more connected Abbeville into a reality—one step at a time.
In addition to this recognition, Mayor Roslyn White received the APA’s Achievement Award for an Elected Official, honoring her leadership, vision, and ongoing commitment to civic progress. This award reflects working toward making Abbeville a pace where every resident and visitor can move safety while being connected. Abbeville continues to focus on thoughtful planning and projects that improve quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
The City extends sincere appreciation to the APA Louisiana Chapter for recognizing these efforts and to all residents, staff, and partners who continue to support Abbeville’s vision for a vibrant, walkable future.
Together, we’re building a city designed for people—one that honors our history while stepping confidently into the future.
