Councilman Francis Plaisance Sworn In to Represent District B

Just before the start of the regularly scheduled  April 15th City Council meeting, the City of Abbeville swore in Councilman Francis Plaisance to represent District B.

This moment marked both a new chapter and a familiar face for the Council. Councilman Plaisance is a seasoned public servant who previously served on the Abbeville City Council for an impressive 16 years, from 2006 to 2022. His return follows the March 29th special election, in which he was elected to once again represent the residents of District B.

The City of Abbeville is making great strides in improving infrastructure, and one exciting development is the Graceland Ave Sidewalk and Overlay Project. This initiative is set to enhance pedestrian accessibility and road conditions along Graceland Avenue, spanning from N. State Street to Lyman Street. Funded through the State Overlay Project Funding Grant, this project is a testament to our commitment to progress and community betterment.

The City of Abbeville receives Strategic Planning Award from Delta Regional Authority

Great things are happening! We’re delighted to share that Abbeville has been chosen by the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) in the second-round of Strategic Planning Awards. The program aims to create more resilient and healthier communities throughout the United States by helping to grow local economies from the middle out and bottom up, so that no one has to leave home to find opportunity.
The City of Abbeville has been awarded $150,000 for strategic planning focused on developing effective strategies to address job creation, entrepreneurship, and equity.
