Councilman Francis Plaisance Sworn In to Represent District B

Just before the start of the regularly scheduled  April 15th City Council meeting, the City of Abbeville swore in Councilman Francis Plaisance to represent District B.

This moment marked both a new chapter and a familiar face for the Council. Councilman Plaisance is a seasoned public servant who previously served on the Abbeville City Council for an impressive 16 years, from 2006 to 2022. His return follows the March 29th special election, in which he was elected to once again represent the residents of District B.

This also marks a historic transition for District B.  The position was previously held by longtime Councilman Francis Touchet, Jr., who served 22 years from 2002 until his resignation earlier this year. Councilman Touchet’s decades of service left a lasting legacy, and the City is grateful for his many years of dedication to the community.

With experience, Councilman Plaisance brings understanding of the city’s needs. We look forward to the commitment he brings to the role.

Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Councilman Francis Plaisance as he resumes his service to the people of Abbeville.
