Improving Abbeville by Targeting Blighted Properties

You may have noticed signs posted in several yards around Abbeville and wondered what they’re about. We’re excited to share the reason behind them:

The City of Abbeville has once again been awarded funding through the Louisiana Community Development Block Grant (LCDBG) Clearance Program!
This federal program provides critical support to communities for the clearance and demolition of unsafe, abandoned, or blighted structures — helping cities like ours revitalize neighborhoods and improve quality of life.

What’s Happening:

  • 30 properties across Abbeville have been selected for demolition as part of this grant award — a larger number than in our previous project.

  • We are currently advertising for contractor bids to complete the demolition work. To learn more about the bidding process and details, view the attached below.

  • Once a bid is awarded, demolition will begin on the identified properties.

This clearance project is an important step in beautifying our city, improving public safety, and preparing sites for future opportunities. We appreciate your continued support as we work together to strengthen and improve Abbeville!

Utility Customer Warning:
Third Party Payment Site

We have identified a website that falsely claims to be an official online payment portal for the City of Abbeville. Please be aware that if you choose to use a third-party website like Doxo.com to pay your utility bills there is a delay in receipt of the payment to your account. This delay could lead to late fees and disconnection of your utility services. We do not endorse Doxo.com or its affiliates and cannot waive additional charges or issues caused by using their service.

We strongly recommend using the City of Abbeville’s official payment portal for online transactions.Â
