A LETTER FROM THE MAYOR

The Honorable Roslyn White

As the 42nd mayor of the City of Abbeville, I want to tell you more about myself.

I am a businesswoman and a community leader of Vermilon Parish. I served my first term on the Abbeville City Council from 2018 through June 2022 and was recently elected to the office of Mayor of Abbeville. My goals for the city include strengthening community relationships and rebuilding a sustainable economy through strategic planning and action. I understand and believe in the use of technology to improve customer service. During my first term on City Council, I redesigned and launched the new City of Abbeville Website providing easy access to information and a better user experience for both citizens and businesses. I created a social media presence for increased community engagement and transparency in government. I worked with the Taxes and Permitting Department to implement new software for improved operations, and I plan to continue to identify areas and departments to improve efficiency with re-envisioned structure as I serve in my new capacity.

I am a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and am active in our community through volunteering with civic organizations. I am a founding member of Allumé Society and F.U.E.L. Vermilion, serving on both organization boards. I am a Chevalier of “La Confrerie d’ Abbeville de L’Omelette Geante,” helping to bring on the Giant Omelette Celebration in downtown Abbeville. I serve on the fundraising committee for the Vermilion Parish Boys and Girls Club, and assisted in the initial launch of the Vermilion Women’s Resource Center. I take an active role in helping promote local business and community events and serve as a representative and promoter of our unique city.

My career experience includes International Resort Management, logistics, marketing, tourism, and leisure management. Prior to stepping into my full-time role as the first female Mayor of Abbeville, I was part of the Broussard Brothers operations and bid administration team in Abbeville. I look forward to using my unique work experiences to find new ways to build a stronger Abbeville and Vermilion Parish.
